How to Increase Your HubKarma Score
79HubKarma was recently introduced, and it's been a hot topic on Hub Pages. The new Karma Score is intriguing, but many writers are wondering how it is calculated. Is the Hub Karma calculated based upon comments, votes, RSS feeds, or links? As writers, we want to know the best way to increase our score to make money.
The goal of this Hub is to provide information about the Hub Karma, so we can work to increase our HubKarma and our profit. Once we know how to do it, incorporating these features will be a breeze.

What is My Writing Karma?
Many Hub Pages' freelance writers are interested in viewing their Hub Karma scores. Simply visit any one of your hubs and click on your username. Right above your username, you will see a black banner. Your new Hub Karma score will appear in a box right above your username. The score is ranked on a scale of 0 to 100.
What Does Hub Karma Measure?
According to the Hub Pages information page, Hub Karma measures the quality of links that the writers include in their article or hub. Their goal is to make each of the hubs more valuable by sending users to other relevant hubs. By making this website a higher quality, they encourage readers to come back, and readers are more likely to spend money.
Thus, a reader who is interested in horseback riding will find it very easy to find links to other hubs on horseback riding. When you include links in your articles, you make their surfing experience better, and their overall vision of Hub Pages improves. In addition, both you and Hub Pages may earn advertising revenue on the services provided. A reader who is interested in horseback riding may wish to purchase a bridle, a saddle, or a bevy of other equestrian supplies.
Thus, Hub Karma measures the quality and quantity of outgoing links on your hubs. To increase your quality score, you need to not only increase the quantity of hub links in your article, but you also need to increase the quality of these links. As you do so, you are also increasing your ability to earn money as a freelance writer on this site.
Good Karma Benefits Us All
Why Does It Matter?
Right now, it does not appear that the HubKarma score affects any other aspect of your score. However, this is a new feature, and none of us writers are really certain how it will change in the future.
However, HubKarma can instantly affect your ability to make money in other ways. In fact, it is aptly named. By encouraging us to try to improve our outgoing links to other authors on Hub Pages, the site is also increasing our real life karma. This is true because just as it is encouraging you to link to others, it is encouraging other to link to you. What goes around, comes around. And in this case, you just may receive new visitors. And maybe, in the best case, new fans!

How Can I Increase My Hub Karma?
Easy! You simply link to other relevant Hub Pages. Every time you link to another relevant site, you have taken one more step to increase your Hub Karma. The links can be to another Hub author, or even to your own articles. But you must only include links that cover the same topic as your article.
Hub Pages has even provided a nifty tool, the Link Suggestion Tool. This handy tool appears at the top left of your hub page. You can see the box that includes "edit," "stats," and "delete". It also includes "suggest links."
Click on the "suggest links" button. Now, your article will have several phrases highlighted throughout your article. Click on the highlighted words of your choice, and a box will appear. This box shows several different hubs that are available and relevant to your topic. Simply click on one of the most appropriate choices, and the link will be inserted. It couldn't be easier!
You can also increase your Hub Karma by including other hubs that you enjoy. Simply insert them in your hub, as you normally would. You can insert them in either your text or in a separate section for links.

All Karma is Good
The most important thing to remember is this: All Karma is Good. Whether or not you are concerned about your Hub Karma, you should be concerned about your karma on Hub Pages. In this context, I mean your karma toward other authors. When you are kind to other authors, the other authors will probably be kind in return.
This Good Karma is meaningful. Take the time to read other hubs, and press the up arrow if you like them. I don't generally press the down arrow, because I do believe that I should be kind to others. Leave comments that are meaningful to the author, and remember to be positive. These authors have put their hard work into the hubs, and we should not take their work for granted. After all, Hub Pages would not exist without all of the authors. This gigantic library of articles exists because each author has worked hard. Thank them for their efforts. They just may thank you in return.

Hopefully this will work similar to Squidoo, you can opt out of showing other Squidoo Lens Links, but if you do your sites will not be listed in other Lenses either.

Ah, if you figure that out, please let us know! I do believe it's primarily determined by the number of links added with the "suggest links" tool. It would be nice to know the exact formula that determines HubKarma!

I am really intrigued by Hubkarma. When I noticed my hubkarma score of 25, I had no idea what it meant or how could I pull up the score. A little research enlightened me a bit. I was suggested to link my articles and the procedure was pretty simple. I began diligently linking my articles. For the last two days I have been doing this exercise and to my surprise what I discover is that my hubkarma score has tumbled down to 17!!! Strange! Isn't it? Probably, little knowledge as they say is too dangerous. Can someone explain what more should I do to raise this score? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
My Hub Karma is relatively low in the high 40's. I like the Hub suggestion tool, but I would definitely check out those hubs before linking to them. I'm curious if Hub Karma will eventually computed into the overall Hubscore?

I've started including more links to hubs, and haven't noticed a change in my hubkarma. Is there any special way to do add a link? I have just been searching hubs to find a hub that fits what I'm talking about, pick a good one that works well with my topic, and then link to it in my hub.... I really like the idea of hubkarma, and it makes sense, adding to the community feel for hubbers!

Very interesting hub and I have a question about how comments may affect a hub.
I did an analysis and today your keywords for this hub are as follows.
hub (2.2%)
ago (1.5%)
karma (1.3%)
profile (1.2%)
profile image (1.2%)
months ago (1.1%)

hubs (1%)
hubkarma (1%)
so my question is - does a comment that includes those key words push up the value of your key words? That would mean it pushes up the value of your hub in the eyes of the search engines.
And going further, on some hubs that get very popular, as this one seems to be doing, a lot of comments means a lot of extra text. Is there a limit to how many comments, because of a limit on how much text in total we want on a hub? If that is true then a hubber needs to review and edit comments and weed out those that do not include key words. Wow confusing and a pain if it is another duty to do each day, especially if the number of hubs gets large.

To be honest, Hubkarma helps us all cycle views to each other. What better way to benefit ourselves, other hubbers AND hubpages all together! After the Panda update, THIS is surely beneficial to increase a persons ranking on Google as well.
